  • From the A10 (Berlin beltway), change to the A115 at the intersection ‘Dreieck Nuthetal’
  • Leave the A115 at the Potsdam-Babelsberg exit and continue in the direction of Potsdam-Babelsberg
  • Follow Nuthestrasse towards Potsdam-Babelsberg / Potsdam-Zentrum over the bridge Humboldtbrücke
  • Turn right to follow signs towards Berlin-Zehlendorf / Schiffbauergasse

Does the Foundation accept funding requests?

It is very rare for the Hasso Plattner Foundation (HPF) to accept funding requests as it predominantly establishes and runs long-term projects. At times and on our own initiative, we might support specific projects with one-time donations. These usually fall under one of our areas of focus but might also include additional purposes such as in response to crises.

Can HPF support individuals?

It is generally not possible to support individuals.

How does HPF ensure compliance with ethical standards?

All Foundation affiliates are required to comply with the Foundation’s Code of Conduct – Values Statement. Recipients must adhere to the ethical and legal principles set forth in the General Ethics and Compliance Standards.

Does the HPF generate a profit from ticket sales at the Museum Barberini and/or DAS MINSK?

No, both institutions are non-profit entities and ticket sales partially cover their cost of operation. Both museums are supported by the Hasso Plattner Foundation through an annual contribution of 12-16 million Euros.

What is the role of the Foundation Council at HPF?

The Foundation Council (FC) is HPF’s monitoring body, advising the Executive Board and being involved in strategic decisions. FC meetings are formal and relevant from a governance perspective, with the Executive Board aiming to hold 6-8 FC meetings per year.

How is HPF structured?

HPF is an independent, non-profit organization in the legal form of a foundation under civil law. It is registered in the foundation list of the state of Brandenburg under the number 267.

What is the role of the Founder?

The founder, Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Hasso Plattner, is a strategic advisor to the Foundation Council and the Executive Board in all matters of business.

How much does the Foundation disburse as part of its philanthropic giving?

The Foundation disbursed approximately 420 million Euros for philanthropic initiatives over the last five years (2020-2024, excluding art purchases). For instance, it supports the Museums of the Hasso Plattner Foundation with an annual contribution between 12 and 16 million Euros.

What is the size of the Endowment?

Similar to many Endowments, the exact size is not disclosed. However, it places the Hasso Plattner Foundation among the largest of its kind in Europe.
