Stefanie Plattner is a film director and producer. She is a permanent member of the Foundation Council of the Hasso Plattner Foundation, the founder of TALES, and Co-Chair of the Board of Directors at the Wildenstein Plattner Institute. She also plays an active role in the development and programming of DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam.

Trained as an actor, Stefanie Plattner worked in theater and film before transitioning to directing and producing. In 2012, she founded Storming Donkey Productions, where she serves as Managing Director. The company produced the feature film “Hördur,” directed by Ekrem Ergün, which won Best Children’s Film at the Berlinale in 2015 and the German Critics’ Film Award in 2016. Several other feature and documentary films by Storming Donkey Productions have been screened at international festivals, including the Berlinale, the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, and the SXSW Film Festival in Austin.

Stefanie Plattner founded TALES, a non-profit multimedia storytelling initiative that fosters a deeper cultural understanding and appreciation for global mythologies while promoting environmental conservation. The first installment in this initiative, the book “Congo Tales” (Random House/ Prestel, 2018), was featured on the front pages of major newspapers, including the New York Times. The second entry, the short film “The Little Fish and the Crocodile,” was screened at multiple film festivals and won the main prize at the 2018 Chicago Film Festival. Currently, TALES is developing the “World of Us,” a metaverse project designed to facilitate cultural exchange, interaction, and inclusivity through a digital platform that connects young users worldwide.

As a permanent member of the Foundation Council, Stefanie Plattner is particularly engaged in the work of DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam. She was actively involved in conceptualizing the exhibition space and remains involved in shaping the museum’s programming, which displays contemporary art alongside artworks from the former GDR. Additionally, Stefanie Plattner serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors at the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the digitization of catalogues raisonnés and the modernization of archival research in art.

„Culture is the space where people come together, learn from each other, and collectively shape new paths toward a more just future. Our mission is to create these spaces and provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and perspectives,“ says Stefanie Plattner.
