Dr. Ben Illigens joins as CEO of Data4Life

The Hasso Plattner Foundation has appointed Dr. Ben Illigens as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Data4Life. He succeeds Christian Weiss, who has shaped the development phase of Data4Life since 2017 and will continue to advise the organization in a consulting role.

The Future of Digital Health

The world is undergoing a rapid digital transformation, one that is also affecting the healthcare sector. Innovative technologies are reshaping how health care is delivered. They lead to novel solutions that facilitate prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. That is why at the Hasso Plattner Foundation we support several initiatives in digital health research, including the Digital Health Cluster at HPI, the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai (HPI·MS), and Data4Life.

Linking Research – Improving Health

With its broad range and academic activities, the Digital Health Cluster at HPI aims to play a central role in digital health research in Germany and Europe. HPI·MS conducts data-driven research at one of the world’s largest hospital networks in New York City, while Data4Life develops digital and secure solutions for working with health data to enable scientific advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.

Together, our digital health projects combine their expertise to conduct interdisciplinary research with a patient-centered and data-driven approach. The goal is to apply and continuously improve digital technologies, from individual treatments to the global healthcare sector.

The HPI Digital Health Cluster brings together scientists and experts from medicine and IT for research and teaching at the HPI. The interdisciplinary cluster enables the application of patient-centered and data-driven research methods. The goal is to advance digital technologies in medicine and the healthcare sector.

The HPI·MS is part of the Mount Sinai Health System, New York City’s top ranked hospital. Based on the progressive collection of medical data and a unique data pool, HPI·MS plays a pioneering role in big data research in the healthcare sector.

As a nonprofit organization, the mission of Data4Life is to make health data available for research – comprehensively, digitally, and securely. By collaborating with leading healthcare institutions and medical experts, the goal is to digitize health research. Data protection and data security are always a top priority.
